IAN // ANNESSON // BIOGRAPHY

Ian Annesson was born and raised in the industrial heart of

Germany, the "Ruhrgebiet’, but don’t let that fool ya…....

He started playing the guitar at the tender age of 10 and has been
playing ever since. In his early teens Ian absorbed the traditional
American country, blues and folk styles.
Somehow the music hit right home with young Ian.

Ian’s own songwriting reflects a profound understanding and passion
for those blue sounds that originate from the Delta up to Chicago,
from Chicago to Texas, from Texas down to Nashville. John Lee

Hooker, Robert Johnson, Buddy Guy, Albert Collins,

Lucinda Williams, Canned Heat, Hank Williams, Steve Earl,

Ryan Adams, just to name a few."

Ian has been on the road playing as a sideman with many bands.
Solo artists and performers such as Dutchman Danny Vera,
with whom Ian scored a few hits, played a lot of gigs
and did a string of radio and tv shows.

In 2005 Ian felt the time had come to pursue his own career
as a songwriter and performer. He started working on his first album
as a leading man teaming up with Dutch producer/songwriter

Ton Engels. It took some time, a took a few studio’s, hell,it took

a few continents but here we have it: ‘Jewels in a Box’,

Ian’s wonderful debut album.

The songs on ‘Jewels in a Box’ are bluesy with a country flavour,
hard-hitting yet melodic. His powerful voice is just drenched
with soul and character. You either have it, or you don’t.

His guitar playing can compete with the best in the genre.
Whether on acoustic or electric, it’s right on the money.
Lapsteel, mandoline? Ian can do. Mean harmonica blowing?
